  • Bridal Trends: Veils

As we head into the wedding season, it's time to start thinking about bridal fashion trends for your upcoming big day. One of the most important accessories for any bride is the veil, and this year's trends are all about making a statement with this classic accessory. From bold and dramatic to romantic and ethereal, there are plenty of veil styles to choose from. Here are some of the top veil trends to watch out for. Statement Veils One of the biggest trends in bridal fashion for 2024 is statement veils. These veils are designed to make a bold statement and are often embellished with intricate beading, lace, or embroidery. From cathedral-length veils with intricate detailing to short and sweet veils with bold accents, statement veils are perfect for the bride who wants to make a statement on her wedding day. Minimalist Veils On the opposite end of the spectrum are minimalist veils. These veils are all about simplicity and understated elegance. Minimalist veils are often made of sheer, lightweight fabrics like tulle or chiffon and are designed to complement rather than overpower the bridal gown. This trend is perfect for the bride who wants to keep her look clean and classic. Colored Veils While traditional white and ivory veils are always in style, colored veils are becoming more popular in 2024. Shades like blush, champagne, and even bold jewel tones are being used to add a pop of color and personality to bridal looks. Colored veils are perfect for the bride who wants to add a touch of whimsy to her wedding day. Embellished Headpieces In addition to statement veils, embellished headpieces are also trending in 2024. From beaded headbands to crystal-encrusted tiaras, these headpieces are designed to complement the veil and add extra sparkle and shine to the bridal look. Embellished headpieces are perfect for the bride who wants to add a touch of glamor to her wedding day. In summary, the top veil trends are all about making a statement and adding personality to your bridal look. Whether you opt for a bold statement veil, a minimalist veil, or a colored veil, there is a style out there for every bride. And with embellished headpieces, you can easily switch up your look throughout the day. So, have fun experimenting with different veil styles and find the perfect one to complete your bridal look. • What does buying “off-the-rack” mean?

What does it really mean to buy an “off-the- rack” wedding dress? It means that the wedding dress you are trying on could be THE ACTUAL dress you take home and get married in! Traditionally, bridal stores buy inventory samples to sell in their boutique. Brides come and try them on, find the special Heck Yes dress & using the bride’s measurements the bridal store will place a Special Order & order them a new dress. This ordering process takes 6-9 months depending on the designer. Once that new dress arrives, the bride will take it for alterations which can be about a 2-3 month process pending the alteration specialist. Meaning the entire start-to-finish Special Order process is 8-12 months long. So how does ‘off-the-rack’ fit into this? It’s simple, off-the-rack eliminates steps in the ordering process & shortens the timeline. An off-the-rack dress means you are purchasing the exact sample dress you try on & will take home from the bridal store that same day. This is usually the bridal store’s inventory samples that were brand new gowns but have been tried on by customers. And because they’re like-new but might have minor wear & tear, brides end up getting discounts on off-the-rack options. While we love ordering brand new dresses for our brides, there’s benefits to buying off-the-rack! Here’s our 3 favorite reasons to buy a wedding dress off-the-rack: 1. Budget Friendly While it’s not a brand-new gown it’s like-new, which means buying an off-the-rack bridal gown guarantees deals & discounts. You’ll be able to get a designer gown for a fraction of the original ticket price! And since you’re taking the dress home with you that day, you won’t have to pay rush or shipping fees. Who doesn’t want to save money?! 2. Instant Gratification With off-the-rack bridal gowns you don’t have to worry about ordering or shipping timelines. If you’re eloping or having a short engagement- No problem! Off-the-rack gives you instant gratification because you take your dress home that same day. Seriously, no wait time! Time is back on your side & you’re in full control of your wedding planning process. 3. No Surprises With an off-the-rack dress you know the exact condition, how it fits & if you need any changes. While the Special Order process lets you customize certain options & gets you close to your natural size. There’s still uncertainty on if you’ll like the custom change & what alterations are needed. With off-the-rack, what you see is what you get! So whether you’re short on time or love the thrill of a discount, shopping off-the-rack could be for you! While we’ve got a great selection of Special Order wedding dresses our Bridal Outlet has your off-the-rack needs covered. Shop from the comfort of your home or give us a call (920) 939-2008. Bridal Outlet gowns won’t last long so get ready to say Heck Yes to an off-the-rack dress. Ivory Rose Bridal Boutique is Appleton, Wisconsin’s ONLY exclusively bridal store. • What is a Bridal Trunk Show?

“Trunk show” is one of those words you hear in the wedding world that often causes confusion. Bridal stores may advertise specific trunk shows, or stylists may present a certain line as a trunk show. But… what even is a trunk show? A trunk show is a special event when designers send a collection of gowns or accessories to sell in our boutique for a limited time, usually one or two weekends. Think about it this way: a designer will send us a trunk of specialty items to show in our store. So… what are the perks of shopping during a trunk show? Relevance: Trunk shows often anticipate the upcoming bridal season. This means that you can shop dresses hot off the runway and be one of the first brides to wear it for your big day. Exclusivity: The trunk shows we bring in at Ivory Rose often feature designers and styles that aren’t usually available in the Fox Valley, or even in the entirety of Wisconsin. Once our event is over, we pack up the gowns and send them off to the next store. This way, brides have the opportunity to ensure that they shop the newest, most unique styles the bridal market has to offer. Trunk shows take the best of bridal and wrap it with a bow: brides get to shop fresh, exclusive styles, and we get to test out cool new dresses and designers in our boutique. It’s a win-win for everyone! Want to experience a trunk show for yourself? Check out our upcoming trunk shows on the Events tab on our website, and book your appointment early! • 6 Steps to Say HECK YES To the Dress!

O-M-G… You just got engaged?? Congrats, girlfriend—or, should we say, fiancée! You just answered a big question, and now you’re thinking about answering another one: Are you saying HECK YES to the dress? Before you answer that, though, you may be asking something like this: How—and when—do I start wedding dress shopping? We know our brides love a how-to. You’ve got lots to think about when it comes to your wedding—so let us help! We've outlined 6 important steps to take to say Heck Yes to the dress. Read on to learn more about the how and why of each step of the list. 1. Decide upon a wedding venue and date Venues are vital for understanding your wedding vision and aesthetic; however, solidifying a venue is important for wedding dress shopping because venues and dates walk hand-in-hand. If you have a venue, you have a date… and you need a date to buy a wedding dress! Different bridal designers work within different time frames, so it is important to understand the amount of time until your wedding so your stylist can suggest appropriate designers and purchase options. 2. Plan for your time-frame A good rule of thumb is to start shopping 9 to 12 months before your wedding. It may sound crazy, but some designers take up to 8 months to create and send your gown. Generally, however, a wedding dress can be in your hands 6 months after you said HECK YES—but remember that you’ll need to factor in time for alterations! Alterations begin three months before your wedding, with one appointment each month leading up to your big day. 3. Define a budget Ideally, if you’ve already picked a venue and a date, you already have a budget set for your entire wedding. If not, now is the time to set one. Wedding dresses are available in a wide range of price points, and it is necessary to pinpoint what range will be most comfortable for you. We suggest you communicate this range to the group you bring shopping with you. This way, everyone is on the same page when it comes to realistic options for the dress of your dreams. 4. Answer: Who needs to come along? Most bridal stores have room for you to bring along 3 to 5 guests. Before you go shopping, consider who you absolutely need to be with you to say HECK YES! Oftentimes, when it comes to your entourage, less is more. Remember, you can always bring others to your dress pick-up appointments and dress fittings, or FaceTime friends and family who can’t come in-person. 5. Pre-shop on local bridal stores’ websites When deciding where you want to shop, it is important to do your research. Most brides start on Pinterest, Instagram, and TikTok, and then translate that inspiration to local stores. Different bridal stores carry different designers with different aesthetics. To make your bridal shopping experience as fun and easy-breezy as possible, make sure you’ve browsed stores’ selections ahead of time to be sure they carry styles you’re looking for. 6. Book your bridal appointment Now, after all that, you’re ready to schedule your bridal appointment and find the dress of your dreams! Some brides plan a big bridal weekend and set up appointments back-to-back. Oftentimes, this can lead to a high-energy morning… and then hungry, tired, and overstimulated brides and groups by the afternoon. Most brides find their dream dress within the first dozen they try on. That means that most brides fall in love with a gown within the first two stores they go to. Our suggestion? Slow down the process, and enjoy each moment. This is a once in a lifetime experience—make sure you’re ready to fall in love, even when you least expect it. Knowing the ins and outs of the wedding world is so helpful when it comes to planning your big day. Finished with steps 1 through 5? Book your appointment here at Ivory Rose! Not quite ready just yet? Screenshot or save dress photos to reference as you prepare to find your perfect wedding dress. Cheers to you! • How To: Measure Yourself at Home for a Bridal Dress

Your perfect wedding gown is not only dependent on look but also on feel—and feeling your best in your “Heck Yes!” dress hinges on accurate measurements. Wedding planning is hard enough—why not buy your dress while on your couch and in your pjs! So… what if you’re shopping on our Bridal Outlet with only your dog around? When shopping in person at Ivory Rose, our professional stylists measure you for a gown—but the process can be easily replicated at home. Get out your measuring tape, ladies! Class is in session. Step #1 - Gather Your Materials To measure yourself at home, you’ll need… A soft, flexible measuring tape A pen or pencil A piece of paper A full length mirror Underwear An unpadded bra Step #2 - Get in Position In your bra and underwear, stand in front of your full length mirror. Hold one end of the measuring tape in your left hand and wrap it around your back to hold in your other hand (it’s almost like threading a belt through the belt loops on your favorite pair of jeans… but without the belt loops). Step #3 - Measure your Bust Measuring your bust is the hardest part. Hold the end of the measuring tape that begins at the one inch mark in your left hand and hold it steadily at your left nipple. Making sure the measuring tape has no twists or kinks, pull it taut so that it lays straight across your back. Use the band of your bra for reference. Bring the measuring tape under your right arm and across your right nipple. Place the end in your right hand directly under the other end in your left hand. At this point, the measuring tape should wrap around your entire bust line. Don’t worry if it takes a few times to get situated… measuring tapes like to slide around on you! Double check that everything is parallel in and in place: the edge of the measuring tape should line up with the bottom edge of your bra’s band. Then, facing the mirror, take a deep breath in… and out. Tighten the measuring tape to the size of your bust when you’ve let all the air out of your lungs. Don’t pull too tight, though. You still want it to feel comfortable! Write down the measurement, then try two more times to be sure that your measurements are accurate and consistent. Step #4 - Measure your Waist The easiest way to shift from bust to waist measurement is to shimmy the measuring tape to your waistline. Your waistline is the smallest point of your torso, usually just under your ribcage. If unsure where your smallest point is, lean to one side (kind of like a side tree bend in your hot yoga class). Where your skin creases is the smallest point of your waist. After locating your waistline and adjusting your measuring tape, double check that your measuring tape has no twists or kinks. Ensure that the tape's one inch mark is in your left hand and it’s other end in your right hand. Facing the mirror, take a deep breath in and out and tighten the measuring tape to the size of your waist when you’ve let all the air out of your lungs. Again, don’t pull too taut. We don’t want you to feel squeezed in your dress! Again: write down the measurement, then try two more times to be sure that your measurements are accurate and consistent. Step #5 - Measure your Hips One more to go! Slide the measuring tape to your hips. Measure the widest part of your hips, which is usually mid-way down your butt. Make sure that your measuring tape has no twists or kinks, then, again, place the one inch mark in your left hand and the other end in your right hand. Line up the inch marks to deduce your measurement. No need to breathe this time! Jot down the measurement, then try one or two more times just to be sure. Step #6 - Browse Away Now that you’ve taken your measurements, here comes the fun part—shopping! When perusing our online selection, hovering over the image of a dress reveals the tag size. This can give you a general idea of if the dress is within your size range. Remember, bridal sizing is awful (if we met a genie and got three wishes, changing bridal sizing would be on the top of our list, next to world peace—seriously). Expect a good fit to be 2 to 4 sizes higher than your normal street size. Once you find a dress within that size range, click and read our sizing description. We’ll list the bust, waist, and hip measurements. Know that not all dress types will need to account for a hip measurement. If purchasing an a-line or a ballgown, hip measurement will not impact the sizing of your gown. A fitted gown, however, requires a hip measurement to be sure that everything will fit just right. Matching your measurements exactly to an unaltered dress is rare (like, probably one in a gazillion). A good rule of thumb is that dresses can always be taken in—but they can’t always be let out. Don’t order a dress if your measurements are more than half an inch higher than those of the dress. If your measurements are lower than those of the gown, know that the dress can safely be taken in 3 to 4 inches by a seamstress. Looking for a great seamstress in the Fox Valley area? Send us an email at info@ivoryrosebridalboutique.com and we’ll send over our list of tried-and-true experts. Wedding planning is hard enough—why not buy your dress while on your couch and in your pjs! Once you place your order, we’ll package up your dress and send it your way. • 5 Myths About Bridal Shopping

Learning what’s true—and what’s fake—when it comes to the wedding world will not only help you make better decisions, but can also lower the stress that sometimes accompanies dress shopping. Sometimes, bridal shopping seems shrouded (veiled, if you will!) in mystery. Uncertainty can make brides feel nervous about finding the perfect gown. Rest assured: we’re here at your side from the moment you walk into our boutique all the way until you walk down that aisle! As industry professionals, we know the ins and outs of wedding shopping and believe that it's part of our job to clear the air when it comes to shopping for your wedding dress. To make our brides feel comfortable and confident, we think it’s important to debunk the myths swirling the wedding world. Myth #1 - Everyone has to be there Here at Ivory Rose, we suggest bringing your core group to help you find your dress. When it comes to choosing an entourage, less is often more! Bring the people who are going to support your vision and make you feel comfortable and beautiful. If everyone from that list isn’t able to make it to your appointment, consider making a group chat to send pictures to in real time, or FaceTime a friend or family member who can’t come in person. Myth #2 - You need a white wedding gown Wedding dresses come in all colors! In fact, in most bridal stores, what you think of as a traditional bridal white is truly ivory—a stark white will photograph blue. Gowns now range from blush and champagne to mauve and mocha. Don’t be afraid of a little color! Tones will often look different on the body than they do on the hanger. Want to go completely out of the box? We’ve got black wedding dresses, too! While white may be traditional, any color can be bridal… as long as the bride’s wearing it! Myth #3 - Brides always cry in 'the dress' Sometimes, brides are disappointed when they don’t cry in THE dress they love. Of course, dress shopping is an emotional experience! However, not all brides get teary-eyed in their “Heck Yes!” dress. If you’re unsure, ask yourself this: “Did I cry when my fiancé proposed? Do I tear up when thinking about or planning our wedding?” If the answer is no, requiring a dress that makes you dewy-eyed may be setting unrealistic expectations for yourself and your emotions. Myth #4 - 'The Dress' can't be the first one tried on That first dress magic is real, girlfriend! More brides than you’d expect end up saying “Heck Yes!” to the very first bridal gown they’ve ever tried on. While it’s important to try on a variety of styles to be totally confident in your choice, it’s common for brides to find “the dress” in the first dozen or so they try on. Do you know what that means? You could find your dream gown in just one stop! Myth #5 - You have to sleep on it Buying a wedding dress is an emotional process—not a logistical one. Unlike any other large purchase, choosing a wedding dress relies upon how you feel about the gown in person. While pictures are a great tool, they rarely do a dress justice, and they can’t simulate how you feel in the gown. Sometimes, waiting to make the decision can actually cause brides feelings of confusion and FOMO. Trust your heart when you’re in a dress you love—after all, your heart did lead you to the love of your life! Dress shopping can be a whirlwind. By doing your research, asking questions, and setting reasonable expectations for yourselves and others will lead you to wedding dress success. Learning what’s true—and what’s fake—when it comes to the wedding world will not only help you make better decisions, but can also lower the stress that sometimes accompanies dress shopping. • Bridal Trend Report: Maximalism

To everything there is an opposite: while minimalism in bridal is in full upswing, maximalism is also emerging as a trend for the 2022 and 2023 bridal seasons. As opposed to minimalism, which focuses on simple fabrics and stream-lined silhouettes, bridal maximalism leans back into the tried and true—lace, sparkles, embroidery, and more—with an eclectic twist. A maximalist bride truly believes that “more is more!” Maximalism can be tricky to pull into a cohesive look, but rest assured—bridal designers and professionals know what they’re doing! Want a maximalist wedding, but don’t know where to start? Take a peek at our curated selections below. Why pick when you can love—and do—it all? Bridal Bows Both classy and modern, bows can add drama to any look. Consider rounding out your look with a bowed heel, or wearing a tulle bow as a unique alternative to a traditional veil. Embracing Eclecticism Maximalism is perfect for brides who want to be both dramatic and unique. Combine elements in your big day that are both different and personal, such as eccentric décor and bold florals. Dramatic Dresses In bridal gowns, “maximalism” suggests a combination of multiple dress motifs, such as appliques, sparkle, lace, and gems or pearls. A maximalist dress may also include uncommon details or an alternative color. All the gowns below are available here at Ivory Rose—we’re here to help all your maximalist dreams come true! Mixing Mediums Maximalism celebrates the diversity of drama. Why not combine everything you love into one? By mixing patterns, textures, fabrics, and metals, maximalism creates a multidimensionality that sets it apart from more traditional aesthetics. Consider a variety of fabrics or patterns for bridesmaids dresses or place settings, bold men’s wear, or a colorful, embroidered veil for a spunky, energetic vibe. Statement Jewelry Align a more simple gown with your maximalist vision by wearing statement necklaces, earrings, or headpieces. Consider mixing metals and textures, adding a pop of color, or going all-out with an uncommon headband or hairpiece. Ivory Rose Bridal Boutique is Appleton, Wisconsin’s ONLY exclusively bridal store.
