After you book your appointment online or by phone, you’ll receive a confirmation email and a “help us get to know you” email. This is your opportunity to give us the details about your wedding and vision!! Our stylists personalize your experience to you, and your interview helps us prepare for your appointment. (Like if you send us screenshots of your favorite Maggie Sottero gowns from our in-store selection. Your stylist definitely will have those in mind coming into your appointment.) Once you come into our intimate boutique, you and your group will be shown to your own plush viewing area (with accents of sparkly pillows and a pink sofa!!). As you get comfortable, your bridal stylist will be introduced to you. Your bridal stylist is your best friend, hype woman, and personal shopper all rolled into one. They have your best interest in mind (finding your dress!!) and are experts when it comes to all things inventory, veils, and bridal accessories. Your stylist will sit down with you at the beginning of the appointment and chat about your shopping experience so far, what your vision is, and all details about your wedding. Together, you’ll shop our chic collection of bridal gowns that are hand-picked and unique to the area. (Like seriously unique! We carry designers that are hard to find in the state of Wisconsin.) Your stylist will be your personal tour guide and help educate you on the designers we carry because let’s be real… they can all look like white dresses at first glance. In your appointment, you’ll pull a variety of silhouettes, fabrics, and necklines to start. Come with an open mind! Some dresses look completely different on the hanger versus how they look on a bride. Until you try it on, you don’t know what you’ll end up loving. Your stylists might pull a few options for you as well (a little wildcard action)! We will take all the pictures and videos we need, look at veils options, and then say goodbye to the dress (for a little while). As a bridal stylist, we get to see and become very familiar with the dresses in our inventory. However, have you ever wondered which dress our stylists would choose for their own wedding? Emilee, you’re getting married tomorrow, what are you wearing? “If I was getting married tomorrow, I would choose Nisha by Maggie Sottero for my wedding dress. (I got married this past June in Dani from Randy Fenoli, so this is an added bonus to pick another dress!!) Nisha is a modern organza wedding gown that has so many unique features that elevates its seemingly simple design. This dress has a thigh-high slit which adds the PERFECT amount of sass to its regal glam. Also, the illusion back corset detailing is swoon-worthy. The dress would fit perfectly with my “tomorrow” wedding vision of a chapel ceremony, an intimate bistro-restaurant-style dinner, followed by desserts and drinks outside (preferably with a black-and-white checkerboard dance floor!!). Maybe you are a newly engaged bride and just booked your first bridal appointment to look for your dress…or maybe you are the bride that has been to countless stores and now is worried that you might never find your dream dress… Whether you are just starting the bridal shopping process or have been in the mix for a while, one of the BIGGEST worries that comes up is the topic of indecisiveness. “How will I know which dress is the one?” “I’m indecisive. How will I pick?” “What if I NEVER find my wedding dress????” At Ivory Rose, we have heard all these worries, and we are here to ease those concerns! Our stylists have shared 5 tips to give you more confidence in your decision making. You got this babe! TIP #1 - You need to be standing in the dress to make a decision on the dress Throughout your bridal appointment, you will be in and out of dresses. One thing to keep in mind is that you want to make sure you are making your decisions while you are physically in the dress. How does the dress feel? Is it comfortable? Does it make you feel like a bride? It is way more difficult to make those “how does it feel” decisions if you are not in the dress. Additionally, iPhone pictures do not give justice to your feeling in the dress. The lighting, the picture quality, and the angle all play a factor in potentially warping how you view the dress. Yes, pictures are helpful for us, but overall, being in the dress needs to be our number one priority for making those “feeling” decisions. TIP #2 - Trust your gut Now, you may be thinking… ok, but HOW DO I DO THAT? And we know, it might be easier said than done to trust yourself, but we believe in you! Don’t overthink the bridal appointment. In general, brides can find their dress within the first twelve dresses they try on. Some brides find it with the first one they try on and some brides need to try on more. However, you want this shopping process to be fun! Buying a wedding dress is different from other purchases you will make in your life. It is an emotional buy and let it be an emotional buy. TIP #3 - Look for similarities When you are in the midst of shopping, take a moment to see what you are liking. Have you narrowed your selection to just A-line dresses? Square necklines? If so, perfect! Celebrate those decisions, even if they seem small! A key part in your bridal appointment is defining your deal breakers as you are trying on dresses. What would be aspects of a dress that you do not want? That could be anything from a certain silhouette, sleeves, or detailing. Once you define your deal breakers, don’t think about the dresses that were close, but had one of those deal breaker qualities. If it has a deal breaker, that is a good way for you to move on from those “almost” dresses. TIP #4 - Look at the dress holistically Each dress you try on is a whole piece. It can be a dangerous game when we start picking apart dresses and wanting a certain top with a certain bottom.…and suddenly we just imagined a whole new dress that’s impossible to create. When you start wanting a custom dress with aspects from a bunch of different dresses, your expectation will always be unmet. We are finding a dress that makes you feel beautiful, confident, and bridal! We are not creating a wedding dress from scratch. TIP #5 - It’s not that serious Our final point might seem taboo for a bridal shop to say, but we are here for our brides and we want them to feel beautiful as they marry the love of their life. We don’t want them to feel overwhelmed. Your wedding day is not going to be the only time you will feel beautiful in your life. You will look and feel beautiful countless other days too! Additionally, your wedding guests never see the dresses you said “no” in the fitting room. Veils When deciding on a veil, you first want to think about the length. Our favorites veil lengths at Ivory Rose are fingertip, waltz, and cathedral. Fingertip is the shortest veil length and reaches right around the edge of your fingertips. If you think fingertip will be too short, a waltz length veil is going to be a good floor-length option for you. This length of veil is perfect if you have a very detailed or intricate train on your dress and want to showcase it. For our brides that want to make a big statement, cathedral veils are the longest option for veil length. Cathedral goes past floor length and can extend to the edge of your train or beyond! This length of veil is all about drama and makes for stunning photographs. After you decide on the length of the veil, we want to consider the details on the veil. Does it have pearls? Is the edging of beading going to help frame your face? Do you want lace? Combining both of these elements of veil length and veil details will help you find your perfect veil! Jewelry If you want to add some sparkle or glam to your wedding look, we can play with jewelry options. Are you more of a gold or silver girl? Rose gold or mixed metals? After deciding on a jewelry tone, you can think about wearing a necklace, earrings, or both. An important element to consider in this process is the neckline of your dress. With a sweetheart or v-neck you could have a slightly longer necklace that helps add to the dresses’ structure. With a strapless dress you might want to make more of a statement with dramatic earrings or a larger necklace. Hairpieces Veils are a beautiful addition to your bridal look, but what happens when you want to take them off? That’s where a hairpiece can come in! For your transition from the ceremony to reception, or maybe just after your beautiful pictures, you can replace your veil with a detailed hairpiece that gives you a whole new look. Matching your hairpiece to your dress will help solidify some of those smaller details. Childhood enemies turned high school sweethearts, Emilee and her now-husband Jaedon aimed to create a wedding that honored the past while also celebrating their future. The couple tied the knot in early June at downtown Neenah’s Ballroom at the Reserve. Amidst the Reserve’s historic architecture, the couple incorporated a mixture of patterns, soft florals, unique illustrations, and touches of gold in order to craft a wedding both fresh and classic. To create a unique and timeless wedding experience, the couple integrated a variety of family heirlooms into their day, including a compact mirror, ring box, World War II bible, and family bridal portraits dating back to the 1910s. Vintage and antique elements were counterbalanced by modern yet classic bridal looks and a statement arbor display.
